Wow, das ist wirklich ein beeindruckender Artikel. Aus dieser Sicht habe ich (und viele andere) das noch gar nicht betrachtet.
Ich hoffe trotz alledem, dass Spiele unterhaltsam werden!

Incredible Reporting! Thank you for actually performing real journalism and real research, and informing…for real…..what the real situation is really about in Vancouver/B.C./Canada. Your writing and reporting is diligent, informative, impressive, and respectful.

The human rights record of Canada is a farce! The indigenous rights record is a farce! The maple leaf is a farce. The bounty and the beauty is a farce!

The global community should know about these conditions in Canada, and the global community that signed and committed to the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples should actually read the declaration in order to gain a comprehensive understanding of the rights conflicts that occur each and every moment you and I inhale and exhale.

This should incite folks in places such as Germany and Europe to stand up with the Americas’ indigenous peoples and nations, and support their inhernet right to sovereignty and self-determination. A right to life without losing homes, having their women murdered and missing, and stamping on a right of economic viability.

Good for you Daniel for educating all of us!

ich schreibe über dieses Thema eine Seminararbeit und brauche eine Karte, auf denen die traditionellen Gebiete der FHFN eingezeichnet sind.

Hallo Jennifer,

eine Karte der First Nations im Raum BC findet sich z.B. hier:

Eingezeichnet sind grau die Lil'wat-Gebiete (Lillooet/Stl'atl'imc), in denen u.a. Whistler liegt, und gelb die Gebiete der Coast Salish Nations, zu denen die Squamish, Musqueam und Tsleil-Wautuuth gehören. Die Squamish-Territorien liegen eher nördlich von Vancouver, die der Musqueam größtenteils im 15km-Radius um Vancouver. Die Tsleil-Wautuuth (Burrard) leben heute im Bereich von Burrard Inlet; ihr traditionelles Gebiet liegt im bzw. überschneidet sich mit dem südöstlichen Teil des Squamish-Territoriums.

Mehr dazu (auch Links und Karten) findet man z.B. auf den entspr. Wikipedia-Seiten (deutsch bzw. englisch). Ob es tatsächlich genau bezeichnete Karten der Gebiete gibt, weiß ich nicht. Dazu müßte man bei Bedarf die betreffenden FN kontaktieren. Wahrscheinlich gab es auch nicht überall genau festgelegte Grenzen bzw. diese waren mitunter variabel oder fließend. Im Fall von Stammesgruppen/-verbänden oder bei Allianzen konnten die beteiligten Stämme z.B. oft das gesamte Territorium des Verbunds oder bestimmte Teile davon nutzen.
